Raskin denies opposition lawmakers’ allegations she engaged in untoward lobbying

The US Senate’s banking committee failed to hold a scheduled vote on five Federal Reserve nominees after Republican members refused to attend.

Republican senators said they boycotted the hearing in protest at one of the candidates nominated by Democratic president Joe Biden, Sarah Bloom Raskin. They claimed Raskin had not been forthcoming with the committee about her private-sector activities.

Because Republicans make up exactly half of the committee’s membership, their absence meant the panel
