Namibia president appoints governor to full term
Namibian president Hage Geingob has appointed governor Johannes !Gawaxab to a full five-year term, the Bank of Namibia announced December 3.
!Gawaxab was first appointed last year, taking office on June 1 to fill the remainder of Ipumbu Shiimi’s term. Shiimi, who had served as governor from 2010, left the central bank in March 2020 to become finance minister. The governor’s new term begins on January 1.
The president recruited !Gawaxab from the private sector. From 2015, he was CEO of Eos
