Senator Elizabeth Warren, a prominent figure among Democratic Party progressives, told Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell that she opposed his reappointment.

Addressing Powell at a session of the Senate banking committee, she charged that Powell had “taken plenty of actions to weaken the Fed’s regulatory oversight of our largest banks”.
