People: New York names state financial services regulator

US: New York state’s recently installed governor Kathy Hochul nominated Adrienne Harris to be superintendent of its Department of Financial Services on August 31.

The governor’s nomination must be confirmed by the New York state senate.

Harris, a lawyer by training, worked as an adviser on financial issues at the US Treasury department and the White House during the Obama administration. From January 2017, she has worked at insurance firm Doma, first as general counsel and then as an adviser.
