People: IMF finance department director to retire

Washington, DC: The International Monetary Fund announced on February 16 that Andrew Tweedie, director of the fund’s finance department, would be retiring this year. His retirement becomes effective on July 31.

The finance department is charged with “the efficient and sound management of the Fund’s resources … and the conduct of the Fund’s financial transactions with member countries”. The director also counsels IMF senior management on financial matters.
