People: Bangladesh appoints deputy; Elderson has bumpy ride in parliament

Bangladesh: Kazi Sayedur Rahman was named as a new deputy governor at Bangladesh Bank on November 23.

Rahman has served at the central bank for many years, most recently as executive director in charge of foreign exchange reserves. He was previously head of the central bank’s Bogra branch, and held senior positions in a range of departments, including forex investment and bank inspection.

He holds a degree in accounting from the University of Dhaka.
