People: African Development Bank president re-elected for second term

AfDB president gets further five years as chief; Burundi and Guinea appoint vice-governors

Africa: Akinwumi Adesina was unanimously re-appointed president of the African Development Bank’s by its board of governors (AfDB) for a second term.

Adesina is the first Nigerian to hold the role and will now continue to lead the institution for a further five years. He was first appointed in 2015.

In a statement, the AfDB said Adesina had received 100% of the vote from the board at an annual meeting held in August. The presidents of Nigeria, Rwanda, Guinea and Liberia commended Adesina’s
