People: National Bank of Ukraine appoints new deputy

Ukraine: The National Bank of Ukraine appointed a new deputy governor on July 22.

The appointment comes amid a shakeup in the central bank’s top ranks. On July 1, former governor Yakiv Smolii resigned, alleging “sustained political pressure”.

The central bank’s new deputy, Yurii Heletii, was proposed to the institution’s council by Smolii’s successor, Kyrylo Shevchenko. Outgoing deputy governor Oleg Churiy steps down today (July 23) as his term in office expires.
