People: Bank of Italy appoints deputy governors

Italy: Daniele Franco has become the Bank of Italy’s first deputy governor and Piero Cipollone a deputy governor following the enactment of a presidential decree.

Both appointments were registered on January 22, though the new deputies’ terms officially began on January 1 and will run for six years. They now sit on the Bank of Italy’s governing board, its top executive body.

The deputy governors are both veterans of the central bank’s research department, which Franco joined in 1979 and
