People: BIS picks Lamfalussy fellow; Iceland appoints research director

Basel: The Bank for International Settlements has awarded Fernando Alvarez its 2020 Lamfalussy senior research fellowship. He will be the seventh person to hold the fellowship.

Fernando Alvarez University of Chicago

Alvarez is an Argentinian economist who currently holds a professorship at the University of Chicago. He is known for his work on dynamic general equilibrium models, monetary economics and asset pricing. The BIS says his recent work has included labour market
