Benoît Coeuré to head BIS innovation hub unit

Senior ECB official is highly regarded for work on payments and has warned of need for change

Benoît Coeuré will head the new “innovation hub” at the Bank for International Settlements when he steps down from the European Central Bank (ECB).

As part of this work, he will spearhead a joint project between the BIS and Swiss National Bank to develop a form of digital central bank money for settlement between financial institutions.
