UK finance minister indicates Mark Carney won’t be asked to extend his term again

The appointment process for the new governor of the Bank of England is “on track”, the UK’s finance minister, Sajid Javid, has assured members of the Treasury Committee.

In a letter dated September 27 and published online today (October 8), Javid writes that the Treasury “will make an announcement in due course, ahead of the start of the next governor’s term on February 1, 2020”.
