Governor returns to Sudan’s central bank to fill leadership gap

The president of Sudan has appointed former central bank governor Mohamed Khair Ahmed Al-Zubair to lead the institution once again, following the sudden death of the previous governor earlier this year.

Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir announced the appointment in a statement from the president’s office.

Al-Zubair is no stranger to the leadership of the central bank, having served as governor in 2011 for a period of two years. He has a master’s degree and PhD in economics from the University of
