US: The US Senate has confirmed the appointment of Randal Quarles as a Federal Reserve governor and the central bank’s first official head of supervision.

The vote was split 65–32, with several Democratic senators voting against the candidate, who is widely seen as being likely to soften some of the US’s post-crisis regulations.
