Guo Shuqing is the new CBRC chief

China: Guo Shuqing is to head the China Banking Regulatory Commission, as current chairman Shang Fulin reaches the mandatory retirement age of 65, China's state news agency Xinhua reported on February 25.

Born in Inner Mongolia in 1956, Guo rose through the ranks of the Communist party, holding a diverse range of senior positions. He served as deputy governor of the People's Bank of China in 2001, chaired China Construction Bank in 2005, took the top job at the China Securities Regulatory
