ECB supervisory board chair calls for more ‘watchers’ of bank regulators
Claudia Buch has warned of “a non-negligible risk” that the balance might be tilted towards the perceived short-term benefits of weaker regulation “at the expense of higher long-term risks” to the financial system. The comments from the chair of the European Central Bank’s supervisory board come amid intensifying pressure from lenders to simplify banking regulations.
