Supreme Court sides with Cook against Trump
Justices rule that firing her would have given future presidents the right to dismiss Fed governors at will
The US Supreme Court has rejected president Donald Trump’s claim that he followed due process in attempting to fire Lisa Cook as a governor of the Federal Reserve.
In the ruling, published today (June 29), the court’s three liberal justices were joined by two of their conservative colleagues. They agreed with a previous decision by a lower court that the administration had not followed proper procedure when Trump last August used his social media platform Truth Social to announce Cook’s dismissal
