Nearly 450 staff to leave BoE under cost-cutting plans

Central bank says it is targeting £45 million in savings this year

Around 8% of staff are set to leave the Bank of England over the coming months as the institution presses on with its cost-cutting drive.

“The bank is currently implementing a significant, multi-year transformation of our operations, ensuring we are efficient, resilient, fit for the future, and stick to our budget,” a BoE spokesperson has confirmed to Central Banking

The spokesperson says 446 of the bank’s more than 5,700 staff members will be leaving as part of a “mutually agreed, time-limited
