Cook wins latest round in battle against dismissal from Fed
Court rules that Trump does not appear to have sufficient grounds to fire governor ‘for cause’
Lisa Cook has won the latest stage of her legal battle to prevent US president Donald Trump from firing her as a governor of the Federal Reserve board.
In a ruling late on September 9, a federal court in Washington DC allowed Cook’s petition to block Trump’s decision to stand.
The president on August 25 claimed in a letter to Cook that her “deceitful and potentially criminal conduct in a financial matter” called into question her “competence and trustworthiness as a financial regulator”.
