Lisa Cook has won the latest stage of her legal battle to prevent US president Donald Trump from firing her as a governor of the Federal Reserve board.

In a ruling late on September 9, a federal court in Washington DC allowed Cook’s petition to block Trump’s decision to stand.

The president on August 25 claimed in a letter to Cook that her “deceitful and potentially criminal conduct in a financial matter” called into question her “competence and trustworthiness as a financial regulator”.
