Bulgarian National Bank denies shielding sanctioned oligarch
Central bank calls political party’s claim “unacceptable political interference”
A long-running feud between some Bulgarian politicians and the central bank has flared up again.
In a statement published on August 20, the Bulgarian National Bank said the political party We Continue the Change made an “unacceptable attempt to exert political pressure”, which “contradicts the law and the institutional order” of the country.
The central bank is referring to a letter authored by the party and disseminated on the same day through the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency. This letter alleged
