Bank of Korea defends current board composition

South Korea’s ruling party proposes to cut BoK members on board and install labour representative

South Korea’s central bank has said its monetary policy decisions represent the interests of the country’s whole economy after lawmakers tabled a bill that would alter the composition of its board.

According to a Korea Times article published on August 19, a group of 12 South Korean lawmakers from the ruling Democratic Party of Korea proposed a bill last month to revise the law governing the Bank of Korea (BoK).
