RBA governor praises Fed’s independence following Trump’s attacks

Bullock says US central bank is “doing what it’s supposed to be doing”

The governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia has praised the US Federal Reserve’s independence in the face of repeated criticisms from president Donald Trump.

Speaking on July 24, Michele Bullock said the Fed had preserved its independence despite recent “challenges”. She added that the institution had stuck to its mandate and avoided “getting drawn into” a political debate.
