
Bangladesh Bank officials should face action over theft – minister
Nazrul says previous regime shielded central bank officials from investigation into $101 million hacking

Bangladesh’s law minister has said that any central bank officials found to have been involved in a theft from the institution in 2016 should face punishment.
Hackers in February of that year stole $101 million from the central bank’s coffers. The bank has so far recovered only $20 million of the stolen funds.
According to media reports, Asif Nazrul said on April 13 that the previous government, led by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, had told the police’s criminal investigation department
