
Lebanese prosecutor asks Trump ally to investigate Salameh
Official writes to president’s Middle East adviser asking for inquiry into BdL’s ex-governor

A public prosecutor in Lebanon has written a letter to Donald Trump’s Middle East adviser calling on the US Treasury to investigate dollar transactions linked to the Lebanese central bank under its former governor, Riad Salameh.
The letter – which was sent yesterday (February 12), and the contents of which have been seen by Central Banking – alleges that approximately $8 billion was laundered from the Central Bank of Lebanon (BdL) between 2014 and 2019.
