
Bangladesh Bank seals officials’ lockers
Move comes after investigators find allegedly undeclared assets in ex-deputy governor’s lockers

Bangladesh Bank has sealed officials’ lockers in its premises following a request from the country’s anti-corruption commission (ACC).
The ACC conducted a search of the central bank’s lockers in the capital Dhaka on January 26 after gaining a court order. According to media reports, the search uncovered €55,000 ($169,300), more than a kilogram of gold and a fixed deposit receipt worth 7 million taka ($57,455) in lockers belonging to former deputy governor SK Sur Chowdhury.
