Nigerian president suspends governor

President calls for lower policy rates and unified FX regime, and says Emefiele is under investigation

Nigeria’s newly elected president suspended the central bank governor on June 10 after placing him under investigation.

Bola Tinubu appointed one of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) four deputy governors, Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi, as the organisation’s acting head. Shonubi is the deputy governor for operations, and sits on the monetary policy committee.
