Bank Negara Malaysia veteran named as next governor
Shamsiah will step down when her first term ends, handing over to current deputy governor
Malaysia appointed Abdul Rasheed Abdul Ghaffour as central bank governor, succeeding incumbent Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus.
The king consented to Rasheed’s appointment as Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) governor on June 9, a central bank statement said. Rasheed, currently a deputy governor at the central bank, will begin his five-year term leading the central bank on July 1.
Shamsiah’s five-year term comes to an end on June 30, but she was eligible for another term. The official statements did not give
