Myanmar regime replaces governor

New central bank head Than Than Swe survived attack by gunmen in April

Myanmar has replaced the central bank governor with a military regime supporter who was wounded by anti-regime gunmen several months ago.

The State Administration Council said on August 19 that it had appointed Than Than Swe as governor, replacing Than Nyein. The official announcement said both Than Nyein and deputy governor Win Thaw had retired from their posts, media outlet Eleven Myanmar reported.

The military regime removed Kyaw Kyaw Maung from the governor’s role shortly after it seized
