Military junta says Than Than Swe is being treated in hospital

The military authorities ruling Myanmar have announced that the country’s deputy central bank governor is alive after an assassination attempt.

Deputy governor Than Than Swe was shot on April 7 by unknown attackers, several local media outlets said. On April 12, two government sources told the US-funded media outlet Radio Free Asia that Than Than Swe was alive.
