IMF mission worried about Mongolian central bank


The International Monetary Fund expressed several concerns about the Mongolian central bank in the country’s most recent Article IV consultation, including threats to the central bank’s independence.

The IMF report, published November 29, stated that the government had forced the Bank of Mongolia (BoM) to undertake “quasi-fiscal operations”.

The “Bank of Mongolia’s operational independence has been compromised”, the IMF said.
