South Sudan president fires governor again

President has now fired four governors and eight finance ministers, as multiple crises continue

South Sudan’s president has dismissed the country’s central bank governor for the second time this year, replacing him with the man he fired in January.

State TV broadcast a decree from president Salva Kiir sacking Jamal Wani Abdalla and appointing Dier Tong Ngor, several media outlets reported today (November 3). This reversed his decision of January 22, when he dismissed Tong in favour of Abdalla.

It seems unlikely that the latest dismissals will make much difference to South Sudan’s
