BoE reveals Covid-19 expenditure

Central bank spent over $14,000 a week on additional cleaning

The Bank of England purchased 14,000 face masks for its staff, costing £16,000 ($20,630), as part of its commitment to ensure a safe working environment during the pandemic.

As part of a Freedom of Information request, the BoE revealed its costs relating to changes implemented to minimise the risk of Covid-19 transmission from March to June 2020. The BoE encouraged remote working during the period but there were some staff who were unable to work from home.

In addition to masks, the BoE spent
