IMF supports Riksbank’s criticism of proposed central bank law

The International Monetary Fund supports Sveriges Riksbank’s criticism of proposed changes to the central bank law in analysis published today (August 5).

At the request of the Swedish central bank, the fund’s monetary and capital markets department has published a technical assistance report. The fund argues the reforms put forward “would curtail the Riksbank’s ability to assess and apply the relevant instrument(s) to achieve its objectives”.
