Former Fed chairs stress importance of central bank independence

All the four former chairs of the Federal Reserve still alive published a rare joint article this week stressing the importance of the Fed’s policy independence for the US economy.

Ben Bernanke, Alan Greenspan, Paul Volcker and Janet Yellen argued Fed officials must freely base their policy decisions on their economic analyses in an opinion piece published in the Wall Street Journal on August 5.
