Italian cabinet approves central bank appointments after delay

Move comes after strong criticisms of Bank of Italy by leaders of governing parties

The cabinet of Italy’s coalition government finally approved several senior appointments to the country’s central bank after a delay that followed serious criticisms of the institution by senior government members. 

Cabinet ministers in the coalition led by the right-wing Northern League and the left-wing Five Star Movement agreed to confirm Fabio Panetta as the Bank of Italy’s senior deputy governor at a meeting on May 1, said news agency Reuters.

The cabinet also agreed to give a second term
