Romanian central bank warns on tax as dispute worsens

The bitter public dispute between Romania’s central bank and the country’s government continued, as the bank again warned a new tax decree would have adverse consequences.

The warning came after an adviser to Romania’s prime minister said the central bank’s current leadership team should be replaced with more “patriotic” people.

The National Bank of Romania warned today (March 11) that it had studied the impact of an emergency bank tax decree passed over the Christmas holiday. The NBR said it
