Romanian government escalates attacks on central bank

Romania’s most powerful politician and his political allies have accused the country’s central bank of failing in its legal duty to protect the currency.

The attacks by the leader of the Social Democratic party, Liviu Dragnea, his party and Romania’s finance ministry are escalating an already bitter dispute with the central bank.
