Former deputy governor failed to prevent $655m fraud, authorities say

Five former senior managers of Vietnam’s central bank, including a deputy governor, are reportedly being prosecuted on criminal charges of allowing several banks to commit massive fraud.

Former deputy governor Dang Thanh Binh appeared in court in the Vietnamese capital of Ho Chi Minh City with four other senior employees of the State Bank of Vietnam, VN Express reports. All five are charged with “dereliction of duty”, in connection with multi-million-dollar frauds carried out at the Vietnam
