Sarb rejects postponement calls from public prosecutor

The South African Reserve Bank (Sarb) has hit out at the country’s public prosecutor, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, following her request for a three-month extension to defend her report on the bailout of Absa, in which she asked for the central bank’s mandate to be changed.

“She clearly does not appreciate the impact of her conduct,” said central bank lawyer Corlett Manaka on November 13.
