Sarb returns to court amid secret meeting claims
New court documents allege South Africa’s public protector might have had “ulterior purpose”
The South African Reserve Bank (Sarb) is once again taking on the nation’s public protector, after it was alleged that she may have conspired with the presidency to have the institution’s mandate changed.
In a new affidavit submitted by the central bank on September 11 to the high court, Busisiwe Mkhwebane is accused of neglecting to mention meetings with the presidency and the State Security Agency (SSA), where she allegedly discussed the central bank’s mandate.
