Bank of Mauritius governor calls for prosecution of failed bank leadership

The governor of the Bank of Mauritius, Rundheersing Bheenick, said in a speech on July 25 that banks and their directors should be held accountable for actions that harm customers.

Speaking at the opening of a new bank in Mauritius, Bheenick said bank failure was a matter of both individual and corporate responsibility. "Criminal prosecution of the individuals responsible is something that we shall be hearing more about in the weeks and months ahead," he warned.
