Payment giants ask EBA for PSD2 extension


Members of the European Payment Institutions Federation have asked the European Banking Authority to grant a six-month delay in implementing strong customer authorisation (SCA) for e-commerce.

In a letter to the regulator, the federation says consumers are relying on e-commerce now “more than ever”. “Given these pressures, merchants cannot accommodate any additional risk of payment disruption,” they say.

“The signatories therefore call on the European Commission and the EBA to consider
