RBA suffers payments outage after fire test

“Routine maintenance” led to loss of power at main data centre

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) lost power to its main data centre today after a test of fire control systems shut off power, causing payments to fail across the country.

The central bank first put out a statement on the issue via Twitter at 13.40 Sydney time, saying the power supply had been “temporarily interrupted” and that systems were being restored at a back-up location.
