Malaysia announces new banknotes and coins for 2012

Bank Negara Malaysia announced on Monday that a new series of banknotes and coins will be issued for circulation in the country in early 2012.

The theme of the design of the new currency series will include "features that are distinctively Malaysia", said the central bank. The new banknotes will also have enhanced security elements.
