AWS outage barely affected Europe’s central banks

Monetary authorities say robust risk mitigation frameworks helped them to largely avoid fallout

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage on October 20 did not affect Europe’s central banks to a large extent, Central Banking has found.

The US tech service provider’s domain name system servers in northern Virginia were unavailable for 14-and-a-half hours that day. Because of the time of day when it occurred, the outage mainly affected business hours in Europe.
