Tariffs will not solve US ‘twin deficits’, BdF governor says

François Villeroy de Galhau has said he would like the US and EU to keep working together to tackle issues related to financial stability, technological disruption and public debt levels.

The Banque de France (BdF) governor told attendees at the Bloomberg Regulatory Forum in New York on October 14 that the US administration’s “zero-sum” view of international trade was wrong. Instead, exchanging goods, services, talent and innovation was “the most effective way to grow together”.
