Cambodia tells lenders to offer relief for borrowers
Central bank’s instructions relate to soldiers and people displaced by fighting along Thai border
Cambodia’s central bank today (July 30) issued directives to banks and other financial institutions to relieve the debt burden on those affected by fighting along the border with Thailand.
In a statement provided to Central Banking, the National Bank of Cambodia said it had instructed financial institutions to waive interest and principal payments on loans held by customers displaced by the conflict until October 31.
