PMA attacks Israeli efforts to end bank co-operation

Authority says proposal would cut off Palestinians’ access to basic goods and services

The Palestine Monetary Authority has said attempts by Israel to sever Israeli banks’ correspondent relations with their Palestinian counterparts would threaten people’s access to basic goods and services.

Israeli media reported on June 10 that the country’s finance minister Bezalel Smotrich had ordered the cancellation of co-operation between Israeli banks and the PMA that had helped process shekel payments in the occupied West Bank and Gaza.
