
Bank of Israel instructs lenders to provide war relief
Central bank says lenders must set aside $833 billion for groups affected by conflicts

The Bank of Israel has directed commercial lenders to allocate 3 billion shekels ($833 million) over this year and the next to support people affected by the wars with Hamas and Hezbollah.
The central bank said on February 26 that it had instructed the country’s banking sector – which it said had experienced “high profitability” – to ease the financial burden on army reservists, evacuees from war zones and the families of “war casualties”.
The monetary authority expects banks to spend 1.5 billion
