Annual inflation in Turkey falls, but monthly inflation surges

Independent body estimates actual figure to be much higher than official statistics

Headline annual inflation in Turkey dipped to 42.12% in January, down from 44.38% in December, despite the central bank cutting the key interest rate.

According to data published today (February 3) by the Turkish Statistical Institute, annual inflation slipped to 42.12%. However, monthly inflation surged from 1.03% in December to 5.03% – its highest level since January of last year.
